Case Study

Port Hedland Port Authority:
DX-Altus and Alto

The Solution

Ability to Remotely Change Channels Quickly And Easily

The DX-Altus server was installed in the main control room and connected to 3 operator stations that manage 8 channels. The Alto dispatch GUI, that comes as standard with the DX-Altus, operates on Windows. Alto includes the ability to remotely
change channels quickly and easily.

A web-browser based configuration tool can be accessed from any location meaning technical support in Perth can remotely monitor the network and make any alternations.

Additionally, PHPA chose to use the AFI-IP+ dispatcher gateway which includes Acoustic Shock Protection. With Occupational Health & Safety a priority, this removes the instances of shrieks and squeals caused by some radio interference.

Conclusion

Requiring Minimal to No Operator Training

After many years of using the DX-64 Radio Management System, PHPA has upgraded their network to the DX-Altus ensuring they are well equipped to meet any future demands.

Additionally, the Alto dispatch console has proven to be intuitive and easy to use, requiring minimal to no operator training.

Thanks to Direct Communications for working with Omnitronics on providing an effective solution.
