No Downtime in 20 years for 950 Radio Management System

Final Transmission on 950 system
Anthony Benbow of DFES sends the final transmission on their 950 Radio Management System
The 950 Radio Management System at the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) in Western Australia has sent its final transmission after 20 years of reliable service managing their radio dispatch communications state-wide.

Anthony Benbow, Manager Radio Communications at DFES stated that:

“In planning the decommissioning of our old Comcen, we had cause to reflect on how reliable the Omnitronics equipment has been. Since this equipment came on-line in the early 1990s, it has had very few problems, despite being used around the clock to control Fire Services metro-area mobile radio communications, and for direct-line turnout calls to fire stations.”

“As far as we know, the 950 equipment has had no serious failure resulting in overall down time.”

It is believed that this is the first time the 950 system has been shutdown demonstrating Omnitronics’ commitment to providing reliable and robust equipment.

DFES and Omnitronics now look to the future in establishing the new Comcen at their new Emergency Services Complex.
