Integrated Contacts

Contacts Workspace

In today’s world, where we’re all constantly tethered to our personal and professional networks through technology, it can be difficult to keep track of all the contact details we need. Research from British mobile payments firm Paym found that each person stores almost 50 unique contacts on their mobile phone, obviously a difficult amount of information for anyone to keep in their heads.

Thankfully, every mobile device we carry with us comes with built-in applications for managing contacts, easily synced with cloud networks so we’re never far from the details we need. However, for people whose workday involves radio communications, being able to connect with the right person at the right time hasn’t always been easy.

The development of digital radio technology has introduced many benefits, not least of which is the ability to keep a detailed radio contact list, fully embedded into your communications solution. To make contacting individuals or groups simpler, omnicore includes integrated contacts as standard. Let’s look at some of the features.

Managing Contacts

Server-Based Centralized Information

Much like a modern smartphone app, Omnitronis Dispatch integrated contacts feature provides a number of ways to manage the information of people within your network. Information for individuals and groups can be easily added, depending on your requirements.

The contact information is stored within omnicore Server, allowing you to enter the name of the person or organization, and all stored contacts can be allocated one or multiple numbers such as digital radio, analog SELCALL IDs, Group IDs, phone numbers, or even pager numbers. Each contact can also be allocated a level of priority – perhaps very high for emergency services and low for people you only need to get in touch with on rare occasions. Furthermore, you can even configure key notes about that specific contact.

Once you have added your contacts into the dispatch system, you can then assign each individual to specific channels or talk groups, making it easier when it comes time to search for them in future.

Finding and Connecting with your Contacts

It’s all very well to have a list of contacts stored in your dispatch system, but the real test comes when it’s time to make use of that information. The ideal solution will be efficient as well as comprehensive, so Omnitronics designed their system to be as simple to operate as possible. omnicore Consoles connect to a central database of contacts on the omnicore Server, which updates any changes instantly.

Your contact menu is the most important aspect of the system, and it can be customized to meet your needs. For example, by default your contacts will be displayed alphabetically, but you may choose to rearrange them in order of priority or beginning with the person or group you most recently communicated with.

When you’re ready to connect with someone it’s simply a matter of selecting their name from the contact menu and hitting the call button. Alternatively, you can choose to send a text message straight from the window, if that option suits you better.

Further functionality comes in the form of smart filtering – the ability to configure your display so that only contacts available on a certain radio type or channel are presented. Dynamic regrouping allows groups of users to be allocated to a single talk-group on the fly: you can easily dial all of them at one time by PTTing the dynamically assigned talk group.

Being able to connect with the right people when you need to is critical for effective radio communications. If you think your current dispatch system could be improved with integrated contacts, get in touch with Omnitronics today.
